I find it hilarious that part of their family resemblance seems to be that they both have completely wrong Australian accents in the exact same ways.

(Seriously though, the amount of Aust actors running around the US and they got a yank and a brit to play these guys? When will tv/movies learn that non-Australians are pretty much universally incapable of playing Australians at all convincingly)

Hugh Jackman and the Hemsworth bros can't be in everything, mate.

Oh my god, their accents were terrible (Herc's was a touch better than Chuck's but not by much). I only actually gave the movie a chance because I liked the dude playing Chuck on True Blood at the time, but I ended up hating both his character, and every time he opened his damn mouth. My head canon is that they're South Africans who moved to Australia later, because yeah, their accents suck.

Of course the vast majority of people won't realise, but it definitely grates. At least I can't really tell when American or British accents are bad unless they're extremely awful, so I guess I have it pretty easy wrt suspending my disbelief at most ridiculous accents.

One of the most unique experiences I've ever had in a movie theatre is watching Pacific Rim in Australia and feeling the entire packed room cringe at their bad Aussie accents.

God, that must've been hilarious. I know they had a premiere in Oz so it would've been so awkward once they heard them out loud and the actual actors were there. I'm in NZ but I can tell if an Australian accent is fake, and the showings I went to weren't that full, but I could still hear people laughing at how bad they sounded. At least one of them's dead so it's one less of them to listen to if the sequel goes ahead. XD
