I feel you there! Man, I love those B&N covers, damn.

(...I wouldn't mind a copy of Sunshine with a cover like that...)

(Anonymous) 2014-06-03 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Sunshine! Ah, I love Sunshine. And you'd better believe I'd snatch up a lovely B&N version posthaste.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-03 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Now the irony would be if the book that you feel is "shitty" isn't the obvious one.

[identity profile] galerian-ash.livejournal.com 2014-06-03 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it'd be hilarious of the OP wasn't talking about Poe! But seriously, who'd like that guy -- marrying his kid cousin and writing poems about talkin' ravens and shit. Also, did you see that movie with Val Kilmer? I REST MY CASE.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-03 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Well done.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-03 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I was just going to say hey, not all of Grimms' fairy tales are shitty.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-03 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
You guys are making me so happy.

[personal profile] escriboconundedo 2014-06-04 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
this is what i was thinking. but, of course, the 'obviosly shtty' book isn't actually obvious, is it. it's very subjective.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-03 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
At least it wasn't Twilight.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-03 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
At first I was like, why do you hate Edgar Allen Poe's poetry? And fairy tales work with that pretty cover style. Then I read the middle one and was like, "Ohhh okay I get the secret now."
rubbertea: hugh skinner making a ridiculous face while wearing a ridiculous hat (hugh does that hat even exist)

[personal profile] rubbertea 2014-06-03 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
i agree op, poe is terrible and i don't understand why he's considered a classic author

(Anonymous) 2014-06-03 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Now we FIGHT! *brandishes knife*

Same reason Tolkien, Asimov and Shakespeare rule their respective roosts. They were first to do certain things in their genre/medium. They can stand on their own merit otherwise anyway, to varying subjective extents, but never underestimate the power of FIRST!

I agree but I think you've accidentally posted an unrelated picture??? Probably would have worked better if you had found an example of some books with actual good covers

(gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh those covers. I do not care for them. not one bit.)

(Anonymous) 2014-06-03 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel like you win just for disagreeing about the covers rather than saying which book you think is the shitty one.

I don't like a lot of the books from that collection, thank you. That said, my Narnia compilation is GORGEOUS but the other ones I see there are sometimes not so great.

I for one think all book covers deserve to be pretty regardless of their content. More illuminated manuscript plz.

I also don't judge anyone for not separating and organizing their books according to your taste.

I have it. It's lovely.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-04 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
You and me both, OP. What a waste of paper/design. :p

(Anonymous) 2014-06-04 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't that how a lot of shitty books have BECOME 'classics'?

*sings* One of these things is not like the other...

(Anonymous) 2014-06-04 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, fuck Poe.
