Odd things that make you happy.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-04 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Inspired by exercise thread, because since I started exercising I have developed an ass that can go from soft and squishy to rock hard at will (i.e. I clench).

What odd things make you happy?

Free samples. I don't care if it's through the mail at the supermarket or at a festival. I love free samples even if the sample is something I don't even want or need. I usually end up taking it because I already have in mind who I am going to give it to. Like I don't wear make-up but on your birthday, Sephora will give you a free tube of lipstick as a gift. I grabbed that so fast because the color is my mom's favorite color. She loved it and couldn't believe it was free. And if you are wondering, no, I don't try to pass the samples as gifts. I tell the people I am giving it to that it was free for such and such reason. I don't like being seen as cheap. It's more of, "Hey, they were giving these away for free and I know you like this. So, I grabbed one for you."

Oh man, I love free samples too! And I'm the same way about taking the free samples and passing them off to friends. I have no problem with that at all.

One of the things I really love about Korea is the free samples you get everywhere. I go buy a tube of moisturizer and get like a dozen little samples of different things...packages usually have a smaller package of something stuck to them...and the free samples at supermarkets are great too. And no etiquette where you have to get just one; people will make circuits around the grocery store eating, or hang out at the steak sample station and eat like a dozen bites. Fantastic stuff.

There is something oddly satisfying about doing that. Like I go, "Now I can see why cats do this."

*snicker*

I mentioned this in another thread before, but cooking REALLY TEENY, TINY pancakes just delights me, for no reason I can discern.

This is probably sort of dumb, but complimenting people makes me happy. Mostly because it makes other people happy and that makes me happy.

Er, looking at my nails? Is that odd?

Honestly, just looking at (or feeling of) different parts of my body and going, "Wow, this looks really different now." It fascinates me. (Though, again, I don't think that's odd. Of course you're going to be happy about weight loss if losing weight is your goal. It just...feels odd when I'm feeling up my collar bone.)

Er, looking at my nails? Is that odd?

Nope. I love looking at my nails after I've done them.

(I have been thinking about that nail polish thread from a while ago. I'm going to try to get more colors this summer! because my own collection is extremely limited.)

I feel a bit self-conscious about checking them out because I don't want people to think I'm vain, lol, but I love nail polish so much. It's a great accessory.

(I am pleased that you want to try more color! Not that there's anything wrong with neutral colors, but seriously, color is awesome too. A pop of color is a great way to spruce up any outfit, really. Even using nail polish.)

This. Sometimes when I'm reading a book before bed, if the rain starts up, I'll just finish up whatever paragraph I'm on and go to sleep right then and there.
