First of all, trolls are prolific. Pretty much everyone on the internet has been engaged and harassed by a troll at some point. Most people haven't met an actual admitted sociopath.

(And I'm not an admitted sociopath. Unless you piss me off, not in a cut-me-off-in-traffic way because that'd be too much effort, but in a steal-my-idea-at-work-and-get-credit-for-it way, I'm not going to actively hate you and try to ruin your life. Why do you think I don't like working with nice, honest people? I hate seeing them get screwed over and know that they wouldn't want me to take revenge on their behalf.)

Also, don't assume that I love or care for anyone or anything. There are people I think deserve to and will try to help become happy, but that's not the same as love or caring.

In fact, that whole little speech anon made above about you reminded me of Tyrion's speech to Cersei. I kept waiting for "you joy will turn to ashes in your mouth" bit. Thought it would haved worked better. You using a Joffrey icon just made it so much better. So thank you for that.

If they said it to my face in real life, it would be different. Seeing as how they said it on this comm, admitted above that they posted it partly to get a rise out of people, and the fact I don't know them personally then yeah, I'm a bit hesitant to get out the pitchforks so to speak.

What should I do then? Harass them every time they post on this comm?

I've not supported them though? I just said I found it a bit amusing and their choice of icon particularly amusing because of my prior thoughts about that little speech up above. How is that supporting them?

I'm calming down now, so I'm sorry for coming at you. But she upsets me, greatly, because I've known people like her, and they do real and lasting harm. It doesn't make it any better that she claims she was just trying to get a rise out of everyone. If anything, that makes it even worse, especially since, at the same time, she's talking about not wanting to hurt "innocent bystanders." If you really don't want to hurt innocent people, and you think people should be sensitive enough to not make armchair diagnoses, then why would you go around trolling in a hurtful manner?

You can take that all with a grain of salt, of course. I'm just explaining why I got so bent out of shape.

Because your responses (I'm going to lump you in with every anon who's responded similarly because I literally have no way of telling you folks apart) are really, really, really funny. Seriously, my friends and I have been sitting in the cafeteria for over two hours laughing at the things that have entered my inbox.

And all trolling hurts somebody. I love making up Doctor Who episodes to make Classic and Nu!Who fans flame each other because it's hilarious to watch people's fandom lives crumble before they realize how they're acting. But internet trolling is different than using words that could affect somebody's real life (ie, falsely diagnosing somebody on the internet could lead to someone thinking they have that diagnosis in real life).

(I'm still pretty ruthless, don't get me wrong. If I don't like you, the moment I get a chance, and I will, I will end you without hesitation. It's just that the most harm I will do to you if I don't dislike you is not intervene when you're already being harmed by someone who is not me.)

If something is wrong in real life, then it being on the internet doesn't suddenly make it right. People tell themselves that it is in order to make themselves feel better about being okay with shitty behavior. It's a false separation. It's a lie.
