Re: Curly hair issues
(Anonymous) 2014-06-04 02:51 am (UTC)(link)I wash with conditioner at least every other day, and wash with water every day. I don't use any product in my hair, so no fuss there. The curly girl method suggests flipping your hair over and scrunching up as you dry/put product in, but I've found that actually creates more frizz for me. Instead, I comb my hair when damp with a wide-toothed comb (that's one curly girl recommendation that's worked beautifully for me), then bun/clip it up and let it air-dry slowly like that - it keeps the frizz in check, as opposed to when I leave it down to air-dry.
I do have a mild, sulfate-free shampoo that I use maybe once in two or three months, if my scalp's feeling gunky (water and friction actually gets rid of that feeling amazingly well, plus conditioner if you want). Mostly I try and stick to natural remedies, and my go-tos are a conditioner+brown sugar scrub for my scalp, warm water+apple cider vinegar if there's any dandruff, and warm water+lemon juice for a general clarifying rinse.
