People are focusing on telling the OP that both M16 and MI6 exist and whatnot but no one is commenting on the fact that apparently there is a lot of fic out there where people confuse get the MI6's name wrong o.O

So... that was what the secret was about? People using the wrong name, and OP kept seeing it so often that they thought M16 as an organisation was actually a thing instead of a really common typo? I was confused, but if that was the point, I think I get it now.

It's okay, I understood your secret right away.

Maybe because it doesn't surprise me that enough people could be that ignorant to misspell MI6 as M16. If they only ever read the sign, not heard it pronounced or paid attention, it could happen.
