I think it's racist, obnoxious, and lazy of DC to just racebend all of the old characters this way. I love the idea of a black Flash but why can't we have a NEW black Flash? Why can't we have new characters of color?

Exactly this. They're cannibalizing names of beloved characters and each one is a slap in the face.

And Marvel, meanwhile, gives Carol Savers a new and sensible title change, and simultaneously introduces a new - and respectable - POC. It doesn't seem that hard.

(Ugh, they did the same thing to Rosco, only so much worse. A time-trapped speed-force powered Tuskagee Airman? THAT IS SO COOL! ...wait...he's your new version of the Top? ....Why?)
