BUT THEY'RE VAMPIRES! IT'S TOTALLY DIFFERENT!!!111!!!

(Anonymous) 2014-06-05 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yeah. One is about vampires and one is a sort of realistic world. Vampires dont exist but cannibals sure as hell do. Plus, Hannibal is a jerk who feeds people to other people.

Hannibal is the least realistic world currently on television.

Girl horse bird hook car bird.

Pretending to be a moron makes you a moron. Just saying.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-05 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Humans are vampires' natural food source. It's still gross -- but naturally gross. Like baby koalas eating their mother's shit.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-05 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
in the show they have trublood, so they don't need to feed on humans anymore

(Anonymous) 2014-06-05 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Go to sleep, OP.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-12 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Umm, it actually is?

(Anonymous) 2014-06-05 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Aside from the fact that many people who watch Hannibal don't watch True Blood and therefore probably have different opinions than a lot of True Blood fans, I don't really see many people in the Hannibal fandom finding his people eating to be gross. Mostly people just make fun of it.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-05 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
... this secret is probably NOT about the Hannibal fandom, don't you think?

(Anonymous) 2014-06-05 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
This secret is dumb. Comparing two different shows and fandoms' reaction to the same issue is stupid. 'hurr durr why fans of True Blood think this is okay but fans of Hannibal think it's wrong'.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-06 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Why in the world does Eric actually *eat* people in True Blood? In the book, he's a normal blood-sucker, not a meat-eater.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-05 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Trying to bait people too hard there. 3/10.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-05 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Different genres, different rules, OP. Also probably different fans. It would surprise me not at all of fans who are cool with fictional Eric eating people are also cool with fictional Hannibal eating people.

(I don't even watch True Blood but) I think they're both gross, so there. (I mean, not that they can't be interesting characters, but eating people...yup, a little gross.)

(Anonymous) 2014-06-05 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, I think there's something extra creepy about dressing up human meat as not-human meat food like it's something that normal people should be eating. At least ripping a gobbet of muscle tissue off of someone's dismembered femur with your teeth is honest disgusting. It's only gory, rather than creepy-squicky.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-05 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
... I am now imagining Hannibal giving vampires cookery lessons to help them up their creepy factor. Or attempting to, at least. I'm not sure if this ends up with Hannibal dead in a lovely streak of dramatic irony, with Hannibal a vampire in a move that the rest of the vampires rapidly realise was a bad idea, with Hannibal revealing himself to be Satan disguised as a mortal and scaring the vampires shitless, or just in a hilarious kitchen dustup where Hannibal experiments with how much kitchen equipment can be rendered into stakes on the fly.

Alternately, it ends with a bunch of really creepy vampires who can now serve man in a variety of new and interesting ways, and Hannibal with an extended rolodex of potential guests and an interest in recipes for undead flesh.

... It'd be an interesting cookery show, if nothing else?

It could be because one of these characters is human and the other is a supernatural entity. Or it could be that you're just having a good time making up goofy comparisons, so carry on. :D

(Anonymous) 2014-06-06 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Well. Once you're a vampire, you are no longer human. Therefore, vampires eating humans is not cannibalism.

Right?
otakugal15: (eh?)

[personal profile] otakugal15 2014-06-06 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Did you forget the part where he's a MONSTER WHO DRINKS THE BLOOD OF PEOPLE.

I like Eric, but...he's a goddamn monster. Hannibal is a human being who knows better, but just doesn't care.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-06 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
It's probably childish of me, but I'd love to read a fic about Hannibal running into the wrong vampire and ending up as dinner. Doesn't even have to be a True Blood vampire. I just want to see him get taken down by something that's a bigger predator. Circle of life, right?

(Anonymous) 2014-06-06 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
