I think you have two options here.

1) they are a hypocrite and doing it for the attention

or

2) they genuinely think/feel otherwise now.

I case 1) I can see your frustration, in case 2) you should probably cut them some slack.

I know this is going to make me sound awful, but it's hard for me not to be bitter about it because it wasn't just some minor thing. It involved a trauma I went through so it's hard for me to not be upset. They probably do think otherwise now so I'm thankful that they won't hurt somebody else's feelings who went through the same thing at least even though they are still ignoring mine.

You could try talking to them, asking outright if their opinion has changed since it happened. Sometimes it's not good to let resentment like this build. Better to risk an uncomfortable conversation and see if any apologies will be made so you can move forward. It sounds like they owe you an apology but they may need some help starting that conversation.

I'm sorry you had to endure that from someone you consider a friend. Even without knowing the details, trauma is a tricky thing because of the personal nature of it. It's good they got better, but it still sucks if a a friend won't acknowledge your pain. I don't think you're awful - I think it's sort of understandable on both sides. Some things are just harder to imagine if you don't live through them yourself.

Eh, I don't think OP owes them any slack. Unless person in question actually came forward and apologized or reached out to OP on the matter. However, it's probably healthiest if OP could just walk away/let go. *shrug*

I don't think OP *owes* them anything, but I do intent makes a vast difference here.
