RDJ stans for Mel Gibson. Saying we all make screw ups and we should give people a second chance. And I can see why he would back up Gibson. When all of Hollywood had written RDJ off as a hopeless druggie, Gibson stuck up for him and gave him a job and pointed him to help which led to RDJ's comeback.

Well at least RDJ has a personal reason since Mel Gibson helped him out, but what reason do the fans who don't even know him have? Gibson has said some messed up stuff, yeah he's human but I don't think people should idolize him.

I used to kind of side-eye RDJ for sticking up for Gibson until I found out what he did for him. If someone went to such lengths to help me at my lowest point, I don't think I could ever turn my back on them even if they did do really shitty things like Gibson did.

Well don't forget Gibson owns a production company, so actors in general aren't going to say too much in public, no matter what they think about him in private.
Generally in that industry propel don't say too much, it affects their career.
