I think everyone needs a reminder now and then, because none of us are perfect and we all overreact now and then. But for some people that might occasionally, and for others it might be an everyday occurrence. The latter are the ones who definitely need to watch themselves more closely.

That comic is beautiful. Poor Jason Todd. Bucky almost had it good in comparison. (Never thought I'd be saying that...)

The fact that nobody in-universe or out never thought "you know, beaten to death and buried alive + Lazarus Pit = good damn reason to think killing is the best option"

In the meantime Cap is swearing at SHIELD agents who imply Bucky should be jailed or somehow controlled, and very purposely made sure Sam would make sure Bucky became not only a hero but make him BELIEVE he was worthy of the shield. L

Ugh. Is this the difference between Marvel and DC? I haven't read enough to say, but from what I've heard it seems like DC just enjoys torturing their character indefinitely and Marvel is better about giving them peace now and then.

Nobody in DC is ever allowed to be happy, yup. They used to be. DC was the optimistic, happy universe where good guys were good, bad guys were bad, and when the good guys did screw up they were forgiven.

About the 2000s, and worse since the reboot, everything is misery and grimdark. A tragic loss.

Marvel is hardly happy, but at least good things happen to characters (North star got married, for example. Although I'm sure someday someone will fridge Kyle). And there is funny, like Loki apparently writing slash fan fiction. And, over in the MCU, things seem to be ACTUALLY optimistic. While DC's movies are...just as grimsark as the comics. :(

It's from Loki: Agent of Asgard, issue #1.

I haven't been reading AOA but this is great. (Are there plenty of Thor and Loki moments, or Thor just makes appearances now and then? I assume the latter.)

Though I never even read Journey Into Mystery so...maybe one day.

Is that you, Bucky!anon?

Agent of Asgard is brilliant, imo. It's mostly Loki being Loki with other people, and quite wonderfully. However, people take to different types of humor, obviously. Ewing's brand of it, especially in the hands of a character like Loki, resonates with me. I know others who hate the book not for the story, but rather the humor aspects.

AoA doesn't require Journey Into Mystery (although I liked that as well, other than the ending I never saw coming).

maaaaaayyybeeee? :D

From what little I've seen of it I really like Loki's brand of humor. (If it's anything like his humor in Young Avengers, doubly so.) The only real reason I haven't read it is I worried if maybe that was a big too much Loki for me. I like him better in small doses when it comes to the films. (Never tried a comic centered around him.)

I've heard a lot about how shocking the ending to JIM was. At least people won't forget it...

The new comic Loki is neither old comic Loki nor movie Loki. He's more…Deadpool with magic powers, a personal agenda, and the occasional high stakes. Supremely likable so far. I do suggest giving AoA a shot. It's only four issues in, so not a lot to get caught up on yet. And Loki's explanation of magic at the beginning of the first issue is one of the best I've ever seen.

Fandom was in an uproar for a week, and nobody was sure what the primary emotion in the uproar was supposed to be. It was weird.

Anon you responded to:

Thank you so much! Hehehe, but that's a great scene. I enjoy seeing them just be brothers, and I don't even read the comics. I might now though...

Thor does not feature heavily in AoA. It's only four issues in, so not a lot to get caught up on, if you do read it. I think it's marvelous, myself, but it does include a lot of humor so people's reactions are variable.

(Pretty!Loki after 15 years of comic reading where he was anything but is a bit of a shock, though)

Nothing wrong with serious stories but sometimes you need a bit of hope and amusement as well. Let's hope one day DC decides to go back to their former formula.

lmao at Loki writing slash fiction. That somehow doesn't surprise me.

I can only hope so. People fought the last time the DC universe was in threat of being devoured by grimdark, when Dick Grayson was supposed to be the main death of a massive event and the writers went to the editors and went "We can't do this. He holds the entire DCU together." Nobody fought this time, and if they did they were fired. I've given up on DC. I buy the omnibuses and the trades of old stuff when they come out, in hopes of making sales numbers give a clue to the PTB, but none of the new stuff save one title made me feel any emotion other than dead emptiness or rage. Melodramatic, yes, but my genuine reaction to the reboot.

Fandom fairly collectively when "Wait…whut…does this mean what I think it means?" when the issue came out. Once we'd all confirmed with each other that there really wasn't another interpretation there was a hearty laugh and contemplation about what sort of terrible slash he was actually writing.

Trolling? Suppressed desires?

General consensus is trolling, given that the setup is "released a most terrible slash". One of my favorite hypotheses that I saw was that he wrote schmoopy RPS Steve/Tony set during Civil War.

LMAO I would read that mess. Also, awesome that you got an identity! I'm the anon from the thread above that requested the caps you so generously provided. Definitely going to check that series out.

I don't judge! I have a friend who's a gigantic DC fan, but I don't think she's kept up with even one of the new titles since the reboot. When she does check up on the universe to see what's happening she always IM's or texts me in utter rage over how DC has ruined everything. This is not surprising at all to me. Even I, who as I've said, haven't read that many DC comics, know that what's going on currently is a far cry from everything in the past. I don't get it either.

Probably him/David Alleyne. (I'm also going to pretend he wrote homoerotic fic about himself and Thor but nothing too overt, so that if Thor ever found it he could slyly deny it.)

Oh, and I think it's great that you got an account! I guess you had to in order to post the image, right? Sucks you were forced to but if you don't want to use it you can always log out.

I gave up on even the one DC title several months ago, when it started crossing over with the others. Now my knowledge comes from occasionally hearing things through the fandom grapevine and/or seeing covers at my FLCBS when I go to pick up other things (I regularly glance at the Red Hood and the Outlaw covers and seethe, only to remind myself firmly that I don't care anymore).

*snicker* I prefer to think Loki writes/wrote totally overt RPS about people he wants to troll, and puts it in places on the internet where they can find it or be told about it ("James is pregnant with twins" style). Maybe sends links to graphic Steve/Tony to Tony with things like "AIM has weaponized water!" in the subject line.

I coulda dead-linked, but embedding seemed so much more useful.

Ooo, I remember thinking that Red Hood and the Outlaws looked really good when it first began (the art, anyway), but since it sounds like the entire DCU is a terrible mess I'm not surprised you dropped it.

haha, maybe Loki sent Graham Norton some of his fanfic. I like this idea.

RHatO made me legit cry two issues straight. Between the continued torture of Jason Todd, the 100% disgusting objectification of Starfire and...the terrible joke that was Roy Harper (who, much like Dick, dragged my ass through some very dark times), it was one of the biggest travesties of the DCnU. The art was OK, I suppose. I would have preferred fucking terrible art but the characters I love. I would have accepted goddamn Liefeld art if it had meant a sliver of happy for Jason, and recognizability for Roy and Kory.

Only book I reacted to worse than Outlaws was Superboy. And I literally destroyed that as soon as I read it.

*shakes it off like a dog* Anyway!

:D glad you knew what I was referring to. Everyone should. And given that Tom Huddleston said he already knew about the stripper Loki art...ya never know. :p
