As long as you're not expecting other to read it that way (and insisting that it's 100% absolute canon!!!), I think you can interpret it any way you like.

I don't know, maybe because both are canonically attracted to women but not to men?

If you are going to go down this road, you might want to check your facts, because Erik did not really show canonical attracktion to women. His relationship with Mystique is pretty heavily implied, but not ever shown on screen, as far as I recall?

Also, bisexuality is a thing that exists.
