I think a lot of the SJ types just don't get how change actually happens in media. It happens because you support the things you want to see and make those things earns the most money, not complaint endlessly about a show that's been running for a decade or more and is likely not going to change without drastically upsetting fans (and thus loosing money)(or complaint about something that's already ended so wtf do you expect people to do about it?)

You have to put your time and money onto the things you find possitive. You have to build those up, not tear what you don't like down. Ignore what you don't like! Don't give it a spotlight!

But I find it hilarious that a lot of these blogs tend to blog the most about....Sherlock, or Teen Wolf or whatever white-people-riddled show they're supposed to find boring, while there's not one single recommendation for the sort of material they say they want to see more of.

Strangely, this is both why I watch Bones while simultaneously hating the fandom. While Bones has its flaws, it does take some time to develop female characters and POCs beyond certain stereotypes. The show has also shown us some decent interracial relationships. I fully acknowledge that it doesn't always go that well (especially Arastoo's characterization, which has everything to do with the writing and nothing to do with the acting, but that's another rant). Still, I am happy to see the team putting forth the effort to showcase diversity beyond token expressions. The fandom, meanwhile, doesn't pay much attention to those things and focuses a lot on the white characters which really fucking blows because my OTP for that show is interracial. JFC, Bones fandom, why not show a little love for things beyond the juggernaut pairing and Sweets?

I don't think half of them want it either.

Oh, there's definitely some insane dopes who mean it, and I'm not saying all of those people woudln't appreciate the changes, but half of them are just saying it to fit in with the circles they run in. They still watch the show, that's how they know all the "bad" stuff it has going on. But if they complain then they won't be judged for watching it so much.
