I don't think the Korra leak is a big deal. The same bnfs now decrying people for looking had no problem watching the original ATLA leaked eps. Way to be hypocrites, guys.

I'm not anti-feminist, but I am super critical of feminism, and I think the way that it's going right now is not a direction I'm comfortable with. In some ways, I'm starting to think that I'm not actually a feminist after all, seeings how I don't agree with some of their ideologies.

Yes, I know that "feminism has only one ideology, that women and men should be equal" but in reality, there are a bunch of ideologies that seem to be part and parcel with modern feminism, like the glorification of trans women at the expense of trans men, the hatred of men and glorification of "misandry" (which isn't real except when we want to sell t-shirts), the claims that you can be lgbt+ if you just ~want~ to be, no matter how much that circles around to conservative ways of thinking, the way that the victims of the recent UCSB shootings were being used to hold up their ideology before we even knew their fucking names.

I just don't agree with any of it, and I'm starting to think that maybe I should stop identifying as a feminist, because I feel like none of these things truly fit me, and they make me really uncomfortable.

despite my fandom being really into the NEVER SPEAK ILL OF THE LADIES mantra, I just flat don't like some of the women in my fav show (not because they're women; but I'll admit that one of the characters I can't seem to like because her actor rubs me the wrong way). I can never ever admit this to my fandom though -_-

I thought Tiger & Bunny was pretty forgettable for the most part. It had a good idea, but the writing was pretty bad. It didn't help that I didn't give a shit about any of the characters aside from Kotetsu.

if a show has lesbians but no gay men (and especially if said lesbians have lots of on-screen boob-baring sex) I will look up whether that show has a male writer or showrunner and then I can't help but be offended by its very existence.

While I think half of the Twilight hate - of which I played a part - came from the fact that Twilight IS problmeatic and romanticizes abuse, a lot of it was because people thought it was going to be a new Harry Potter or a new Buffy, and it wasn't, so they got pissed off and hated it. Loudly.

Again, there's definitely issues, it's sexist at worst and at best Bella's one of the most annoying YA protags, but I think we need to accept it was never trying to be Buffy or anything else in the first place.

I think both Angel AND Spike were wrong for Buffy, and wish Whedon had entertained the idea of a strong female character also being single for longer than two episodes.

I sort of wish it hadn't become a thing for people to join fandom just to write smut fic. I have nothing against those people, I just... miss when you could get really excited about something you loved to dorkified levels, and when half the people care less about that and more about their pornfic, that's lost. And as someone who really just wants to squee and doesn't even necessarily care about any fanfic, that sucks.

I like anime with fujoshi bait. I get annoyed at panties shots and fanservice of female characters (unless there are lesbian vibes involved instead of straight), but I like when male characters get the same treatment.

It's not for any political reason at all. I just really like gay fanservice. I don't even need canon gay, though I don't mind that at all.

The so-called "golden age of RPGs" -- this supposed magical time between the late 90s and the first third of the 00s in which dozens and dozens of AMAZING RPGs came out -- is a goddamn myth.

Aside from the fact that nowhere near as many RPGs came out at that time as they did the late 80s/early 90s, they were almost all complete garbage. But neckbeards gonna neckbeard and the next thing we know shitpiles like Diablo 2, Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment and Morrowind all get put up on pedestals they don't deserve. Fuck that.

I think a lot of female characters actually are badly written, and that's why a lot of people don't like them. I think a lot of writers are lazy about how they portray women, and I don't think it's sexist not to applaud those characters for existing when they are boring.

I'm tired of people saying they don't give a fuck about [long list of things]. And I have my own long list of things I don't give a fuck about, and I used to list them. I guess it's cathartic in a way for the person doing it but reading it lately just annoys me. Wow! You have your own interests! Do you expect a free pizza?

The "generic ~badass female character~ Natasha" in Cap 2/Avengers fic is driving me insane. Yes, we get it, she's the scariest Avenger, she's the only one who knows what everyone else is up to, the only one who can ~see through~ everyone, and she could beat anyone with her little finger. Can we get more of the Natasha who uses emojis in her mission-related texts, makes nerdy references, and - in her own words - just pretends that she knows everything?

I don't think the fridging trope is bad per se. It can be done badly when the ratio of character relationship importance to emotional impact is incongruous, but I honestly don't mind it as a plot device.

The part I do mind is the sexism/racism/homophobia part of the trope's trends -- the WOMEN in refrigerators part. It's always women, minorities, and gay people in the refrigerators, even in the fairly rare cases where they are also in the main credits.

I like the word "feels". To me it describes a very specific kind of feeling related to fictional characters, that the person saying it knows is kind of over the top and silly. It is a little jarring when people use it in reference to really serious RL issues, but I can let it slide.

I love gen fic. I wish more people would write friendship fic, especially missing scenes.
