I hate the trend of mocking bad fanart because a lot of people are just starting to draw/don't have that much grasp on anatomy, so pointing and laughing at them is a pretty shitty thing to do.

Also, criticizing something does not equal hating it.

+1 To all of this. Also some just want to get the idea out rather than make perfect artwork.

Though I do agree that artists who want to get more serious about the profession should be open to critique so they can improve on their craft.

Oh yeah, completely agree on getting critique if you're going pro! That's really important, if you want to improve on your art. As long as it's not "YOUR ART SUXS LOLROFLCOPTERS" kind of comments I think they are fine.

I make an effort to only laugh at intentionally bad fan art. Beginners (especially in the MH tag) are just too cute.

I love intentionally bad fanart. And I can understand laughing at it, but downright laughing at their faces, well...
