It always bugs me a little when people say they don't make good anime now but then only cherry pick certain classic shows from various years to show how older anime was better. I could just as easily say "Anime from 1998 was lacking in quality because you had stuff like Lost Universe and Mamotte Shugogetten, which can't even match great stuff from the 2010s like Uchoten Kazoku, Kyousougiga and From the New World" -- 1998 being the year Cowboy Bebop aired. And as much as I enjoy Sailor Moon and Rurouni Kenshin, nostalgia aside those shows definitely have their flaws. Maybe Tumblr's tastes just don't match yours (I didn't care for Kill la Kill myself, and I really dislike SAO) but there's plenty of less popular but really great series out there.

I really really loved Uchouten Kazoku and Kyousougiga, so I'm bummed that the latter may not have done well enough to get licensed for physical releases. There was a thread where numbers were discussed, and it didn't seem good. At least NIS said they would handle Uchouten.

I'm really looking forward to NISA's Uchoten Kazoku release, their premium sets are actually worth the price (unlike certain other companies I could name *cough* Aniplex *cough*). It's too bad about Kyousougiga though, looks like it'll be joining Chihayafuru and Dennou Coil (and Free, though I expect that has a better chance than the others at eventually getting a US release) on my 'give me a physical release so I can throw money at you' list.

I don't know about elsewhere, but here in Australia we've got physical releases for Chihayafuru and Dennou Coil. I've only bought the Dennou Coil boxset, but I'm thinking of grabbing the Chihayafuru collections sometime these days.

I saw the Australia anon's response, and I hope we can get more physical releases for series like that elsewhere (*coughs* without Anplex *coughs*). Yay for being premium set buddies, too! I haven't gotten as many in recent years, but I always like seeing excellent ones being made.
