It's not supposed to high art at all. Not even in or the fandom for it, but it was one of the best movie experiences I've had. There are some movies that are just meant to be seen in a theater with a packed audience and Pacific Rim is one.

It was Guillermo del Toro's love letter to mecha and kaiju flicks and it was awesome for it.

I went to the theatre to see giant robots hitting giant monsters, and I was not disappointed! I've never seen anything so awesomely palpably giant on the big screen.
