Er...that sounds vaguely like how the Demons worked in Inuyahsa...which may or may not be fanon there. It was never truly stated in the show/manga if that is a thing.

I'd go as far to say it is pretty common for fandoms with demons and other supernatural beings that even vaguely animalistic. This shit was pretty common in Yu Yu Hakusho fandom iirc.

Hmm, yeah I can agree. But I'm just so familiar with it in IY, that that was I jumped to. :P
