I could only get through 5 minutes of Titanic before getting so bored I had to switch over.

Also everyone seems to really love the Romeo & Juliet with Leonardo Dicaprio but it seemed really stupid to me. I mean, if you want to have Romeo & Juliet in a modern setting with guns then fine, that's cool, but to still have the Shakespearean old english just jarred with me really badly.

Ha, the modernness of it was why I loved it. I have always been so bored by old English renditions of it, where they sound like they've just mainlined a bottle of Valium into their veins. In the modern version, they're screaming, they're crying, they're knocking shit over with their tantrums - THAT'S passion. I can believe that those two would kill themselves with that.

That said - the juxtaposition of the old language with the modern setting could be very jarring in an unpleasant way if that's not the way you like your stories told. Which is totally valid.

Seriously! There's lines that are really quite squicky in a modern context, and the guns part seemed overkill to me - like they just wanted more guns. Mostly I don't get Julie Taymor.
