Yeah, I thought the movie was horrendously awful. I got that it was supposed to be a dumb action flick and I like dumb action flicks just fine. But I found it incredibly boring and wasn't impressed by the visuals beyond the first 15 minutes or so. So it failed as a dumb action flick too. By the time I got 75% of the way through it I just started fast-forwarding to get to the end.

I can't think of a movie that benefits as much from being seen in a theater as Pacific Rim.

Maybe you still would have hated it - obviously plenty of people did - but the action scenes have a different sense of scale seeing it on the big screen and a much greater impact.

To be honest I preferred it on DVD because I could up the brightness and color contrast. It was dark as hell in the theater but at home it was crazy gorgeous. Del Toro loves blue and red, homg.

I hated it to pieces when I saw it in a theater as well.
I couldn't even laugh and yell and comment on its shittiness because I was in a theater! And a then friend had paid for the ticket so I couldn't even leave. I was basically forced to waste my time watching that piece of garbage, if I had been at home at least I would have been able to go do something else. And anyway I couldn't even see wtf was going on since everything was blurry and explosions. Maybe I would have benefitted from seeing it on a smaller screen and with the ability to pause if something.

This sounds like me watching Transformers. I liked Pacific Rim, but Transformers - I wanted to gouge out my eyes and then hunt down Michael Bay and gouge out his.
