I don't see much of this, but then again I don't really follow any BNF's. I just enjoy fic and rarely notice who has written it.

Why wouldn't there be perfectly nice or talented BNF's, though? It's like everything else: yea there will be some shitty ones, and there will be good ones. And everyone's going to have a different opinion about them anyway because tastes are weird and varied.

NAYRT but even when someone is perfectly nice I get sick of people fawning over them and hating on them. I'm in fandom to talk about characters, not other fans. So too much BNF talk has ruined some fandoms for me.

I'm original anon and I agree completely. I'm not in fandom to talk about BNFs or to develop weird politics and drama. I might remember a fan's name if I like their fanfics/art/whatever, but I'm in it for the series, not the people.

(and I've been, apparently, a BNF before. I didn't know what it meant when people started calling me that. I just really loved the series so was always producing fanworks, starting and engaging in discussions, etc. I was a little freaked out when I found out what it meant, like I seemed even more obsessed than the average fan)

Ah, okay, I see what you mean. I very rarely remember who writes the fic I like (and when I do it's probably someone who's written a vast number of fic, usually in multiple fandoms) and don't tend to keep up with individual authors. Never got into the BNF thing. (Though if other people enjoy it, good for them!)
