If Citizen Kane can be an artistic masterpiece and yet boring as hell, then Pacific Rim can have a thousand things that are terrible about it, yet be awesome as fuck.

My roommate watched it twice. She thought it was terrible the first time. The second, she sat there after it was over, looked at me, and said "I think I misjudged. It's kind of awesome".

I love the movie dearly. Giant robot + giant monster + boat = smack down OT3.

I can see how people would think it was bad, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. So have fun hating it. (I think I'm glad you missed the fandom explosion, though, because it sounds a bit like you are upset you couldn't ruin people's fun.)
