This would be my guess, too. (That fic wasn't really my style, but I'd feel basically neutral about it if it weren't for the number of times it's been shoved at me as OMGBESTEVAR.)

I actually really enjoyed it, because it pinged several of my narrative kinks about survivors and interactions with reality, but I found it independently, first on FF.net and then later again on AO3. I'd probably have felt somewhat aggravated if it'd been shoved at me.

In combination with the reference to 'small fandom', it does sort of lead to SGU, which in turn leads on to FOD fairly easily, yes. Heh.

Given the comment thread just below this one, perhaps it's only obvious if one already knows the fic? I'd have thought 'small fandom' would lead away from SGA, though. SGA was never small. Smaller, now, but I still wouldn't have said small.

Totally depends on where you hang out. It's nothing like it was but there are pockets still alive here and there. Fractionated into interests however.

Don't know about that. I started following a bunch of SGU blogs after I started watching it but because it seemed that the only SGU posts to speak of were advertising this fic, I stopped following any SGU blogs because I honestly thought that "SGU Fandom" on Tumblr was just one fic writer and one promoter.
