A close relative that has never been mentioned before shows up. Bonus points, if they have been assumed dead.

Someone pulls a new skill or power out of their ass just in time to beat the villain.

The villain, who has so far been incredibly dangerous and smart, suddenly becomes completely useless so that the hero can win.

Instead of learning and growing as a person in order to become a hero, it turns out that they don't need to do that because they were born special/were the prophesied savior.
