Re: OP
(Anonymous) 2014-06-11 01:50 am (UTC)(link)What you've stated are simply facts. There are large contingents of fans in these fandoms that are obnoxious, immature, and bad at tagging stuff.
It's incredibly annoying when people shove stuff down your throat even when you've repeatedly told them you don't like it or you're not interested. (Superwholock is terrible with this, because there's the assumption that if you like one show then you must like all of them! Not to mention the idea that they 'own tumblr'.)
And Hannibal fandom is downright guilty of this. I wish they would quit these stupid campaigns to get other fandoms to watch the show. It's not an 'everyday' family show, it's got corpses used as beehives and mushroom gardens and people inside horses! If someone doesn't like it, then they need to LEAVE THEM ALONE. (Also TAG YOUR GORE, for fuck's sake!)
I'm a fan but if this behavior continues I think I'm going to have to start avoiding tumblr if I want to enjoy the show.
I think a huge problem with this is fans just being socially awkward and unaware of how their behavior comes across to other people. Tagging is a basic courtesy. Backing off and dialing it down a bit when other people tell you "I'm not interested", is another basic courtesy. Not throwing a shitfit when someone doesn't ship that pairing you think is "OMG SO CANON" is another basic courtesy.
Pointing this out is not rude. Doing the things you mentioned IS rude.
Re: OP
(Anonymous) 2014-06-11 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)THANK YOU! I am so so sick of the aggressive side of the Hannibal fandom, that just cannot seem to grasp why someone might not want to watch this show.
