yes, but WHY did that anger Tyrion so much?

It was because he'd deluded himself into believing that Shae actually loved him and then when she did that, it was obvious to him that she was just there for the money. And that was what made him mad and why he killed her.

all of this makes me sad. I haven't read that far yet (don't worry, I resigned myself a long time ago to being spoiled, which is why I still read these threads) but I adore Tyrion, and this just sounds awful :/

When you do read it, I don't think you will necessarily see his actions the way fauxkaren has done -- Tyrion suffers a series of betrayals, he finds Shae in his father's bed after she has testified against him and immediately after Jaime has confessed to him that his (Tyrion's) wife hadn't been a prostitute. He's already in a very dark place, it takes him completely by surprise, and his reaction is a crime of passion.

Not to mention, he'd been horribly slandered in court (in front of a huge room of people, not just by Shae, by MANY witnesses that Cersei called), convicted of a crime he didn't commit, and basically had his good actions rewarded with humiliation, derision, and condemnation. He was in a bad, bad place.

Yes, thank you above anons. Tyrion's no saint, but christ I am sick of this poor Shae nonsense. She probably didn't deserve to die, and yeah-- she had no choice. But I really don't think anyone twisted her arm about betraying Tyrion. She happily testified against him and moved onto his dad with a skip in her step, and it was TOO MUCH for one guy to handle. That it was her job and money and power her goal doesn't make her any less of an awful human being. Tyrion's life is over, everyone has lied to him, everyone hates him. He deluded himself into believing Shae loved him, and that's fucking pitiable. It's sad, you guys. He's not just some entitled misogynist, he's a heartbroken cast-off of the Lannister's.

Not to mention that Tyrion has major issues with his father and considering the whole issue with the girl who apparently did love him when he was young but Tywin made him think was just a prostitute that Jaime hired...well, it wasn't "just" about being confronted with the fact that Shae didn't love him.
