"Fairly certain"

Are you seriously arguing that the majority of women WANT to join a dangerous business like prostitution where they run the risk of getting STD's, beaten, raped, treated like a piece of meat, and murdered every night? Seriously??

if she meets a man on the street and offers him money for sex, he isn't raping her

(Anonymous) 2014-06-12 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
*sex for money

(Anonymous) 2014-06-12 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
If she has no other way of getting food and shelter, then he is. She is having to trade sex for essentials.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-12 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
You don't know what rape is do you

(Anonymous) 2014-06-12 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
It is forcing a person to have sex when they don't want to.

There are many ways of accomplishing this, the traditional way of climbing in her bedroom window at 2am with a roll of duct tape is just one of those ways. Removing all other means of support except having to have sex for money is just a more subtle, though no less traumatizing, way of doing it.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-12 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
And how is the john removing this support?

(Anonymous) 2014-06-12 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Then that's a business transaction

(Anonymous) 2014-06-12 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. Commercialized rape.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-12 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Rape where the victim gives consent and is paid

(Anonymous) 2014-06-12 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
The duress factor sort of muddles the consent though.

dude, if I felt selling my body was the ONLY way to survive, I wouldn't call that consent. I'd call it desperate survival and I certainly wouldn't actually want it at all.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-12 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
so the prostitutes dont want to get paid?

...what?

(Anonymous) 2014-06-12 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
If she has no other recourse, that is a failure of the system, but not rape. She is plying a trade in exchange for money. Both parties consented to it. Shitty situation? Yes. Rape? No.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-12 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
That wasn't what I was arguing. Prostitution isn't rape, but it's damn well not an enjoyable experience women partake in for the hell of it.
