Slightly OT: I personally prefer to see my favorite character rescuing/comforting my second-favorite character. Most people seem to prefer it the other way around. I guess it's because usually, my favorite character is the one I admire, while my second-favorite character is the one I relate to.

So no, I don't think you're a wuss. Liking fic tropes like that is very much up to whether it pings something in your id or not.
