IDK, I felt that lines like "legs are required for jumping, dancing, strolling along down a--what's that word again?--street" emphasized how badly she wanted shed her fish tail. Also the way she stares utterly transfixed at her own feet (when she first wakes up on the shoreline after her transformation) always expressed to me that she was finally happy with her body, but I'll completely admit that it's a YMMV sort of thing. I could absolutely be reading into it.
