Depends. When I had my daughter, I ate, breathed and slept baby for a good eight months. No interest in fannishness whatsoever.

I came up for breath once maternity leave was over and picked up pretty much where I left off. Maybe a little less with the "stay up until 2 a.m. RPing and reading fic" crap, but that's not good for you anyhow.

And when I had my son, I picked up an immersing new fandom when he was a few weeks old. He was a calmer baby, and honestly I'd gotten my fill of arguing about breastfeeding back on baby number one. It's all a matter of what you want to do with limited leisure time.
