They're playing it up like a love triangle on their Facebook page. I just can't get over the fact that anybody thinks it's okay to have a love triangle between the love of Robin's life who is also the mother of his child and the woman who tried to kill her. You just can't do that!

the love of Robin's life who is also the mother of his child

regina isn't the mother of his child tho

I think anon was talking about Marion.

Hey, they did it once already, with Emma falling for Hook, who ran off with her first love's mom, told her first love's dad his wife was going to be gang-raped to death, and who sold her first love to a psychopath when the guy was still a kid. Oh, and worked for said psychopath, an omnicidal maniac helicopter mom, and a pair of fanatical kidnapping murderers. And locked Emma and her mom and friends up to die of slow starvation, first met Emma when he crawled out from under a pile of bodies he helped make, and was described by the actor that plays him as a sociopath. But he changed so much over the ... five days... they were in Neverland, and he's handsome enough to make panties spontaneously combust, so I guess none of that matters anymore. . . Sigh.

They're most likely going to kill her off. And frankly, I hate that there are those who can't wait to see that happen. The "Outlaw Family" reunion was beautiful, and knowing that it's not going to last just reminds me why I gave this show up.

I agree, sort of. I ship Regina/Robin so hard, and I hate, hate, hate that the show brought her back. But given that she's back, I don't want Robin to choose Regina over her, at least not without some thought. If it turns out he isn't in love with her anymore, fine, an agreeable breakup would work for me. But I want the story to work. And I don't want Marian to be randomly killed off either because that would be worse. I hate that she's back, but now that she is I want them to actually make the story work and not turn Robin into an ass.

If they were going to bring her back they never should've started Regina/Robin. However, this show likes its pointless drama and love triangles, so...

(Anonymous) 2014-06-12 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree (mostly - I don't hate that she's back because I love me some angst as long as it ends the way I want it to!). Their reunion was as adorable as it was heartbreaking to watch, but it was also a "surprise of the moment" thing and doesn't necessarily reflect where their hearts will be when things settle. Plus, on a show that loves to tweak with what we "know" about fairy tales, there's no reason a couple HAS to end up together, even if they ARE Robin Hood and Maid Marian.

To borrow an idea from a fanfic someone I know is toying with, perhaps the "best solution" would be for seriously bad shit to start happening as a consequence of Marian being in the wrong time, and she volunteers to return to set the world right again.

So you want a Disney/fairy tale character to kill themselves to solve narrative problems?

(Anonymous) 2014-06-14 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
When did I say that? Returning to the past wouldn't be an automatic death sentence. Even if it would require a heroic sacrifice on Marian's part, it doesn't mean she'd be deposited right back in that cell. I also disagree with labeling this storyline a narrative problem.

And again, the whole point of this show is to change what we think we know about Disney/fairy tale characters. We shouldn't expect their destinies to be the exact same or necessarily the happiest possible. I want to see the writers doing interesting and surprising things with these characters, not treating them as untouchable and precious solely because they're based on fairy tales/legends.

Come on shippers, get with it. Regina is the anti Disney princess. Her magic companion animal got killed, her prince(s) don't come but die and no kiss can save them, her fairy godmother turned out to be a fairly mad imp, etc and so on. If Regina ever woke up in the house of seven midgets it would only be because they were filming dwarf rape porn. She is never going to be happy because whereever a fairy tale zigs for its protagonist, Regina's life will zag instead. Of course she is never, ever, ever, ever, evvvvvvvar(!) going to live happily ever after, that isn't how her life works.

What was her companion, the horse?

The unicorn that Rumple had her kill. It's a Disneyesque thing, played straight it would be anyway, the young woman fighting to be free of her wicked parent and find a way to bring her beloved back from the abyss of death, meets her fairy godmother who teaches her how to summon a magic unicorn, which is in turn the key to bringing back the beloved. Goddamit, but I bet Pixar are working on the Storyboards right now. Hell, you can probably even work out where the songs are going to go. There is the "My parent dissaproves of my choice" song, the "I'm going to be free song", the big number that the internet won't shut up about for months where she learns how to summon unicorns.... It practically writes itself.

Now look at how the walking fucking tragedy of Regina screws that up. Everything from the wicked parent triumphant, to the fairy godmother being Rumple and just screwing her over for his own ends, the unicorn is sorta key to bringing old whasisname the stable boy back from the dead but only because Rumples says she needs to rip out the unicron's heart, and finally the beloved eventually comes back as an undead abomination. Yay...

Hm... I think it could go both ways. They were REALLY trying to play up Regina/Robin this season, and emphasize that they're "true love" but it's Robin/Marian.... I think it'll end up on the side of Regina/Robin, but they'll probably kill off Marian to do it. I hope they don't.

And hey I still hold out some kind of hope for Aurora/Mulan...... :(

What's hilarious to me is that Regina never saw the Dude With The Tattoo's actual face. It could have been anyone.

So I hope they bring in someone else with the same tattoo and throw both Regina and the fandom for a loop.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-13 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
And now I want a Haven crossover where Regina is destined to marry a member of the Guard.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-13 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
I absolutely adore Robin/Regina, their banter, "You still owe me that drink" and the look on Regina's face when he says it, etc etc. It threw me for a loop when the mysterious woman turned out to be Marian. Now, I love the Robin Hood saga and everything that comes with it, but can't help but ship Robin/Regina over Robin/Marian. Thanks, showrunners! I fell for your trap and will end up with a broken heart, won't I? :/
