That's why she's acting and doesn't actually have a science career.

Some schools do kiiiiiinda push a diploma into your hands if you're taking up a spot that they want filled by a student they're really interested in, to be (painfully) honest.

A PhD means you have the tools, it doesn't mean you're going to use them on anything your committee isn't going to ask you about. It definitely doesn't get you a science career.

Yes, actually. If you have the money, can follow basic directions, can craft a decent thesis, and don't balk at public presentations, getting a higher degree is easy. They do give them away, just only to a certain kind of person, and that person isn't necessarily as smart as television wants you to think.

No, she's acting because she couldn't get health insurance from using her PhD unless she was working the kind of hours that meant never seeing her children.

Which is quite a commentary on how skewed priorities are in the world, aren't they? Actress vs Scientist: who should be making more money?

I find it ironic that actors make so much money when it's such a competitive field.

Same with athletics.

Actress vs Scientist: who should be making more money?

I am often depressed by this.
