I'm not saying that you're a bad person for thinking this. But if Theon were a woman, you would consider yourself a bad person for thinking this.

If Theon was a woman, it would all be exactly the same - but fans and critics wouldn't see it the same way. It would be a hell of a lot easier to spot the 'rape'-ness of it, I think.

Not that women are 'protected' and 'rape myths' don't exist - I think it's just easier to see than with men, who, in general, do not report rape; their rape myth, unlike 'women want to be raped', is 'men cannot be raped', which boggles my mind.

Male-on-male rape is titillating for female bloggers.

Exactly. Rape is Bad!...unless it's male-on-male, in which case it's masturbation fodder.

Fetishizing men getting sexually abused isn't as widespread, common, or "accepted" as fetishizing women getting sexually abused, though. Hell, some people still think men can't get raped IRL and that it's a "women only" issue.

If Theon were a woman I'd feel exactly the same about it. Maye even better if I liked the actress playing Theon more than the actor playing him now. Although it wouldn't change my issues with the actor playing Ramsay.

Yep, and tumblr would be absolutely going insane about the treatment of female characters, and how disgusting it is and how it's problematic in a real life way. I mean, it'd be justified to some extent, since female victimization is much more rampant than male in the books/series, but a lot of tumblr anger doesn't consider context or nuances except where it suits them.

Some ship RamsayxSansa and RamsayxJeyne though. Who really gives a shit, they're fictional pairings and people have non-con kinks. None of this affects anything in the grand scheme of things.
