I find your wording odd. There's definitely a homoerotic edge to Ramsay and Theon's scenes, but calling it 'sexual tension' makes it sound somehow mutual. You get that any sex between them would be rape, right? And that Ramsay is a violently insane sexual sadist and there's no remotely in-character way of portraying on-screen Theon/Ramsay sex that wouldn't be harrowing, brutal and disturbing to watch? Although if that's your kink, well, okay. You're definitely watching the right show.

I agree with nearly all of this (it is wonderfully worded, by the way) - except: I do not believe there is a homoerotic edge to these scenes. Ramsay does not want to have sex with Theon or Reek - he is empowered (and maybe turned on in a twisted way) by how much control and power he has over Reek; how he has 'changed' Theon into Reek. It is not about sexual tension - it is about control. Ramsay is sadistic and sociopathic and has daddy issues; and you're right: it would be rape; harrowing, brutal, disturbing rape.

Not to say GoT won't do it. I just wouldn't want to see it.

And honestly there's no way they could show that without being blatantly rape, with Theon basically being a puppet. Which granted, is not a problem for the show, but it might be less hot than you imagine it to be.

If Theon was a woman, it would all be exactly the same - but fans and critics wouldn't see it the same way. It would be a hell of a lot easier to spot the 'rape'-ness of it, I think.

Not that women are 'protected' and 'rape myths' don't exist - I think it's just easier to see than with men, who, in general, do not report rape; their rape myth, unlike 'women want to be raped', is 'men cannot be raped', which boggles my mind.

Yep, and tumblr would be absolutely going insane about the treatment of female characters, and how disgusting it is and how it's problematic in a real life way. I mean, it'd be justified to some extent, since female victimization is much more rampant than male in the books/series, but a lot of tumblr anger doesn't consider context or nuances except where it suits them.
