I'm glad you made this thread because I GOTTA RANT.

I landed this job and I was like "this is it! This is what I've been waiting for!" BUT OH FUCK.

This company is weirdly bureaucratic and obsessed with paperwork, and I came from a company that was like "fuck paperwork, it's wasteful; let's get rid of as much of it as we can!" So I got used to doing everything electronically and having people trust me to do my job correctly, but now I have to deal with all these weird rules and I'm like "WHY" and everyone's like "there's no good reason, it's just 'cause. Do it." And I'm making mistakes that are all just related to paperwork. Like, I'm following all the regulations and all the procedures, I'm just not using the correct forms, and this is incredibly frustrating to me.

I basically went from knowing everything in my office to knowing nothing and having to do things that make no sense, and it's really getting me down.

Nah, I'm in banking (but the non-profit kind, because yay credit unions). It is definitely depressing, though. It seems like someone higher up on the totem pole has a serious micromanagement problem, and I just want to smack them.
