Taking this to mean my comfort movies, I have a definite prediliction for 70s action, 80s fantasy & thrillers, old-school black comedy, and cult sci-fi.

The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (original)
Assault on Precinct Thirteen (original)
Arsenic and Old Lace
The Ladykillers (original)
Young Frankenstein
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Bugsy Malone
Bestseller (obscure 80s thriller with Brian Dennehy & James Woods)
F/X: Murder by Illusion
TRON
Flash Gordon (I do not care, I will love it forever)
Metropolis (Fritz Lang)
The Princess Bride
Labyrinth
The Neverending Story

Animated movies:

The Last Unicorn
Spirited Away
The Prince of Egypt
The Secret of NIMH
Mulan
Atlantis: The Lost Empire (shut up, I fell in love with Audrey)
The Great Mouse Detective
An American Tail

Flash Gordon? Interesting. And is that the old TRON or the new one?

"Flash, I love you, but we only have fourteen hours to save the Earth!" You betcha. Heh.

And for TRON, primarily old, but I actually do like the new one too. I mean, yes, cheesy oughties action/sci-fi, but the Clu 2.0 and Rinzler plot was fascinating, and it had a darkness that the original lacked. Original is still my first love, but I do like the new one.

It's such a great line/moment!
Huh, I need to watch the old one than, I think I'd like amore lighthearted plot.

My favourite line in the movie, and up there for my favourite lines period. Heh. And the fact that there was Timothy Dalton running around as an evil-but-noble space prince didn't hurt the movie either ;)

Original TRON has a sort of earnest charm about it. While the enemy is powerful and corrupt and a dictator within the systems it controls, it doesn't have the whole good-guy-turned-bad and well-intentioned-extremist darkness of the sequel. It's a much more straightforward sort of evil, good vs bad without the creeping fears that our own power inevitably leads to our own corruption that Clu 2.0 and Flynn in the second movie embody.

Plus, the original has RAM. You'll know him when you see him. He's the cutest damned thing on the Grid.

Sorry for taking so long to reply.

RAM? I'll look out for him. I admit that I prefer straightforward good/bad (or good and reformed!bad). The fact that there's a fandom makes TRON even more attractive.
