...I'm not really seeing the hypocrisy in the secret, since it doesn't mention anything about those other pairings. It's entirely possible that the secret-maker does hate those pairings, or rabid shippers of them - or just doesn't think they're canon - and just chose to write about Phoenix/Edgeworth because it's so common for people to claim it's canon.

Eh.

This strikes me as deliberately focused. And then why not just say 90% of the fandom? Because most people ship something like that, one way or another.

This is true... though it depends on what you mean. Hell, on the CR pairing poll, I think Phoenix/Maya actually was more popular than Phoenix/Edgeworth... it's just that there's a lot more stuff made for P/E.

It still doesn't make the secret any less hypocritical for singling out the one while ignoring the fact that pretty much every single pairing in the fandom that's popular (other than MagShoe and Diego/Mia) is based off of friendship... unless it's Matt/Juan and hate. Or just crack.

Well, that's true, but I don't really think "hypocritical" is really the right word. Hypocrisy is explictly stating "I like Phoenix/Maya" and then turning around and saying "But I hate Phoenix/Edgeworth because they're just friends, damnit!" Since the secret didn't mention the other pairings at all and we still don't know the OP's opinion on them, I don't think it really makes sense to accuse them of being a hypocrite.

Again, true. Perhaps hypocritical isn't the word I'm looking for... but it's close.
