Right, and Edgeworth/Franziska. You must hate that just as much, obviously.

Because as we all know FRIENDS =/= LOVERS.

Adrian/Franziska and Phoenix/Mia... you obviously hate them and everybody who ships them.

Since FRIENDS =/= LOVERS

News flash: That's not the only ship in the fandom that makes Friends = Lovers... and it's not BECAUSE they're friends. Otherwise, where's the Phoenix/Larry shipping? Or more Gumshoe/Edgeworth shipping?

I can count the slash pairings in non-slash-series I like on one hand. But Phoenix/Edgeworth is damn believable to me because of what's in their relationship in the game.

And you're just a tool and a fanbrat, apparently.

(By the way, I think it's actually fairly likely given 3-5 that Edgeworth might have canon attraction to Phoenix. Of course it's only my interpretation, but it's the strongest interpretation given the facts...)

(just to clarify, I have nothing against people who don't ship/completely dislike Phoenix/Edgeworth at all. It's just the hypocrisy and way the secret was phrased that annoyed me)

Just outta curiousity, where was it hinted that Edgey might be attracted to Phoenix?

It's just circumstantial evidence, but there's quite a bit of it... mainly just how Edgeworth acts in 3-5. When faced with the possibility of Phoenix/Iris, he acts strangely like a jilted ex >_>... but more than that, there's the "secret"...

I'm a bit too lazy to paste it all here, but there's a thread on Court Records devoted to it. Basically, if you mess up Iris' psychelock while playing as Edgey, you get a "nope" response unlike any other in the game, that's actually taken entirely seriously. And talks about a secret that Edgeworth has compared to Iris' own, that can only be resolved with Iris' secret coming out, her telling Phoenix and giving him peace of mind.

Well I was sort of exaggerating. Though... Franziska sees Edgeworth as her brother. They're siblings, which is... kind of LIKE friendship >_>

Adrian and Franziska... well, the games do paint a bond between the two. Franziska reaches out to Adrian in a way she doesn't do to anybody else (not even Edgeworth, her self-proclaimed brother) by offering to let Adrian consult her at any time, coming by to teach her to use a whip, etc. Of course that's not BFF TWUU FWIENDSHIP, especially because, like you said, Franziska. But as emotionally damaged as she is, I think it's a start.

But I was sort of exaggerating to prove a point. >_>

I don't care about Phoenix Wright one way or the other, but if I had to take a wild stab at it, I'd assume #15 meant the fangirls who squeal that the pairing is canon. (I saw a secret like that the other day -- someone genuinely talking about the pairing as if their desire to sex one another up is canon.) It's canon that they're friends, not canon that they're in luuurve.

But I agree with you, generally speaking. "They're just friends!!" used to disprove a ship is made of fail, because A) friends can become lovers, and B) that argument applies to 90% of everything. "Canon" is the most abused word in the dictionary -- virtually nothing anymore is genuinely, literally, indubitably canon. Almost every fandom pairing is just "friends" (at best) in the actual source.

Well, I can't deny that there are squealing fangirls out there. But that's not the way the secret was phrased (90% of everybody who ships it is quite a bit, and there aren't -that many- squealing fangirls in the PW fandom that I see).

I don't think it's canon (though Edgeworth is... up for debate, but that is subtext rather than explicitly stated canon so...) but I think what IS there is the potential for it to happen, and that's what the best writers of the pairing use.

...I'm not really seeing the hypocrisy in the secret, since it doesn't mention anything about those other pairings. It's entirely possible that the secret-maker does hate those pairings, or rabid shippers of them - or just doesn't think they're canon - and just chose to write about Phoenix/Edgeworth because it's so common for people to claim it's canon.

No, the secret didn't mention them, you're right.

My comment was pointing out that a whole bunch of the popular fandom ships (hell, all of them other than Diego/Mia and Maggey/Gumshoe) are turning friendship into romance. And it's fairly hypocritical to just single the one out. Especially if the secret poster ships one of the others--can't say they do, of course, but it's not out of the question.

I don't see what the big deal is with somebody saying they don't like a slash pairing that doesn't make sense to them. You know, like half the god-damned secrets in this community.
