This. Plus, I'm the kind of person who is paranoid to expect the feds to somehow track me to the download and arrest me. I don't REALLY think that'd happen... but...

Yeah, I remember in an old fandom people were passing around a pirated copy of a sound/video editor, but also passed along instructions on how not to get the virus that was attached to it. Not something I need to risk.

*shifty eyes* I cracked my trial copy instead. Still free, but much less likely to fuck my computer.

I'm not crazy about it either; there's some dodgy stuff out there and I always worry that my AV didn't catch something, so I tend to stick with freeware and/or shareware of reasonable pricing.
