I just got into a huge argument about this with someone

I am sick of people bringing this one game up as the sole reason we don't get any other playable female characters. Because 1. how many games with male playable characters have failed, and yet they never stop making more and 2. this game was a vita exclusive and people are not going to go out and spend a buttonne of money on a crappy system just to play one game.

Now you might point out that it recently was re-released for download, and you would be right! But you know how I found out about that (just yesterday, in fact)? Because dudebros saying the exact same thing your secret said, with additional "so sit down and shut up/go back to the kitchen/stop your bitching" comments.

The advertising for this game and it's re-realease sucked. The game isn't that great (I bought it for my 360 yesterday when I found out about it, and I'm not impressed, but I'm going to keep playing it because I'm starving for female playable characters in games like this). I could go on but I've lost interest in this rant. Bottom line, you're an idiot. Good day to you.

Your rant is good, and it points out something about Liberation that a lot of people don't want to bring up: it sucks. There's plenty of useless shovelware with female protagonists. We need GOOD games to have them, too.

1. Of course they don't. The industry still far and away views males as the whole gaming demographic. It's going to take a while before they get it into their heads that women enjoy games too.

2. Seeing as how the PS Vita still sells tons of consoles, they are going to chalk up poor sales to a lack of interest rather than the fact that it was released on a niche system.

Basically the reason this is happening is because the industry is fucked. It's not sexism; it's what they think is going to make the most money. If Ubisoft doesn't feel like it will be profitable to invest in a female character/storyline, they aren't going to do it.

Lol, in Japan maybe. I can't speak for the US or EU obviously but it pretty much bombed here in AUS. I say this as someone who works in a retail game shop...its generally considered a pretty faily console in terms of sales/marketing/titles etc.

Slightly off-topic but I sorta feel like the only person who didn't think the game completely sucked (like ACIII and Revelations felt like more of a slog through at times than LIberation did for me), like Assassin's Creed as a whole has the most ridiculous plot for a series that treats itself so seriously at times and out of all the Ancestors Aveline is kinda legit my favorite? Maybe I'm just doing it wrong haha I'm not a gamer I just play games sometimes, I just really liked her character… ah well I suppose

I did manage to hear about the PC release of Liberation back in January for Steam but I don't remember how, and it was maybe a week max before the release date at the max. There really weren't that many announcements about it at all
