I have a favourite character being beaten kink. It's weird because women being beaten triggers me for the domestic and sexual violence I experienced as a kid.

I can't put my finger on why precisely, I suspect it has something to do with exacting revenge. Thefact that this applies to my favourite male character, usually part of my OTP, usually the character I find easiest to write.... Yes that's probably a little fucked up.

But, and I can't stress this highly enough, my kink in fic and TV in no way applies to real life. The idea of anyone hurting my wonderful, gentle husband or lovely male friends makes me sick to my stomach.

I suspect that I'm not alone in dealing my issues through fic in this way. Of course, as with so many kinks, YMMV. I'm sorry it has upset you OP, but I don't think you can really judge people's reading kinks as if they were a real life thing.
