OH BTW.

I just watched the last MG Phantom Pain trailer and it is so underwhelmingly emo I could die. I think that's because it is basically a self-celebratory fanvid, but I must say it did not make me very enthusiastic... the first trailers had made me lose my mind!

I liked it, but you're right in that it's depressing as hell. That said, considering the story I think it would've been both bizarre and next to impossible to make anything that wasn't at least somewhat dark. Now that we're getting closer to the release (and I have no idea when the actual release even is, lol) they're changing things up, I guess.

The first trailers were better though, I'll give you that, but at this point I'm just curious how much of the game you spend playing as a character you absolutely loathe, lmao. (I'm both intrigued and scared at the thought. The trailer was brutal and I'm sure that isn't even the half of it.)

Ah, tbh I like that it is dark and I don't mind playing as a very dark character, it's just that Kojima sometimes has this way of indulging himself a bit too much when it comes to his games. Which is understandable, but sometimes he comes across as seriously cheesy. :P

It was mostly the way it was cut and the song he picked and the choice of scenes, I don't know. It did look like an average self-indulgent fanvid.

Lord, the previous trailers were awesome, I still have chills when I think about the one in the hospital with that creepy music. And also the long one with the saving-Kaz scene. Even the Garbage one was a lot better!

But well, it does not reflect on my opinion of the game though. I still have high hopes for that!

Aww, you say "Even the Garbage one" and I LOVED the Garbage one. I had 'Not your kind of people' on repeat for a solid week after that trailer. :p

Metal Gear is often a soap-opera, but I haven't felt much of that yet with MGSV because there's been so much killing and torture; I'm used to a bit of silliness in my Metal Gear trailers, but not this time. (I get that it wouldn't fit anyway, it's just different.) It IS over-dramatic (wouldn't be MG if it weren't), but I suppose the serious nature of the content distracts me from it.

I kind of want to do a rewatch of all the trailers... (And of course I want to play the other games again, but that will wait.)

I always have high hopes for MG, but I'm worried about this one in ways I haven't been before just because everything looks so damn unsettling and I don't want to hate the cast. And yet...I'm intrigued.
