It is a huge kink, this beaten and bloody boys thing. So many fanartists especially go crazy for it.

It completely alarms me but I feel I can't say anything about it directly to the people enjoying it. I see it suddenly it in the middle of all a lot of other art especially, and everyone else seems to think it's hot. A good looking man with blood dripping on his face.

I don't get it at all, not my fetish. That's why I don't say anything directly about it to them.

Mainstream media does cater for this kink in that it's mostly men you see stripped and bloody in action films.

Statistically, men in real life are more often the subject of violence than women, so there's not even the argument that it's a balancing of reality, like the argument about fics/art where men get raped.

It's creepy, highly creepy. But so is a lot of stuff that I also back away from. I do find the fandom attitude to it mostly hypocritical. But go to a male-dominated fandom space and there's even worse there directed at women, and I find that creepy as well, but I think they're also entitled to their stress release.

Stress release? Fantasising about beating on women when it is so very easy to carry over into RL (unlike the pretty boys with bruises" tropes)? Men are a very real and constant threat to women; the reverse is simply not true.

ICK ICK ICK to your nonchalance.

... Are you fucking serious?

(Anonymous) 2014-06-15 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
They're trolling. Same tired predictable arguments.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-16 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Man, I HOPE they're trolling. Otherwise that's just embarrassing.

Statistically, men in real life are more often the subject of violence than women

In most cases, men are the ones doing the abusing (not that women don't also physically abuse others, but statistically I imagine it'd be hard to argue that it's anywhere on the same scale as men). So in a way, fetishizing men getting beaten and bloody is balancing reality.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-16 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Nah.

Two messed up things don't cause balance, it just screws things up more.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-16 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
40% women for domestic abuse; I'm not sure what your definition of anywhere on the same scale is though.

67% of male rapists were raped/molested by women (not just in general, but by women). But it only became illegal (in some places) for women to rape men two years ago in the US, and since women aren't fairly tried they hardly ever get convicted and have much shorter sentences than men for the same crimes. Adding on top of that we have maybe one shelter for abused men . . .

Yeah men being beaten is a reality, but not a balancing one.

I love the "well, men beat more men than women beat men, so it their fault." Nice.

Now add in the amount of deaths and regular violence done by men and the scales tip quite a lot.

It's not about being their fault (I don't even know where you pulled that from or how you even interpreted that), just that women shlicking to men getting abused doesn't carry the same weight or caution as men jerking it to any kind of violence. Also source your statistics man.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-16 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
Where the fuck are you getting your statistics? A fucking MRA site?

(Anonymous) 2014-06-16 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
MRA Trooooollllllll in the dungeon!

(Anonymous) 2014-06-16 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure that domestic abuse is actually more or less equally distributed, men just almost never report it.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-16 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure you're full of shit.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-16 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure you are, too. So all evens out.
