Re: I was told there would be a job...

Unfortunately that's a common problem. However, isn't it illegal in many places for them to say they won't hire you because you have autism? If they had reasons to believe you're not qualified, sure, but just because they know you have autism? That's discrimination.

DA

Problem is that it's hard to prove discrimination in court. The op may have hard evidence (something written down, or similar) that proves it. But without that? It's a very though thing to prove.

nayrt, but from my reading of the above, the key point is "with proper training I would be at least as efficient". Company can argue that OP requires additional training and is therefore not the best candidate for the job. Or, at least, not job-ready from day 1.

Not the same as saying they weren't hiring because of autism. Of course, that's just my take from solely reading OP's comment. The company may have said other things that change that.

This. Most jobs prefer people with prior experience for a reason - so they don't have to spend time and money training someone who for all they know might quit in three months.

If OP requires extra training that the other people the company hired didn't, then it really just isn't in their best interest to hire OP.

Which is why job-searching sucks. Everywhere wants prior experience, or specific qualifications which training providers won't give unless you have a job offer that needs them, which you can't get without the training, and so on in a vicious circle.

Or they need you to have a driving licence, which also isn't happening for me.
