It's not about the characters races, it's about everything. It's like the show is telling you CHECK YOUR PRIVILEGE.

Are we even watching the same show? Because I don't get that at all. How is the show telling you that? Examples are needed.

Just look at the character designs.

What about them? How are they pandering?

Fat kid, nerdy cute Indian girl, chubby purple woman, strong muscular black woman, flat tall woman. Not saying that there's anything wrong with them, but when you have all of them together, it smells of Tumblr.

So because there's a variety of body types, and two characters with a dark skin tone it must be pandering. I don't agree with that tbh.

Sometimes it feels to forced, like they are just doing it to be different and because they don't want to picture stupid cis white characters, and I feel this is one of those situation. But it's just my personal opinion.

You seem to be projecting a little bit. The main character is a white little boy and there's plenty of white characters. Maybe they just went with those designs because they liked them? Why does there have to be an agenda?

It's just my impression, nothing more. The problem with Tumblr is that most of the time they do have an agenda. I have had to deal with too many SJW in the past, nowadays I'm wary of them. I still get SJW hate from time to time for a fanart of the MLP girls just because I made them all white.

You're problem is more with tumblr then. I've never seen any evidence that the creator of this show is an sjw.

You freak out because a show depicts various body types and races without ever drawing specific attention to it. You sound a little racist. Not like the vicious outward type, the more insidious undercurrent type that's so ingrained you don't even know you're doing it. I hope you figure it out sooner or later. :(

What I'm trying to say is that some shows try too hard to be as politically correct as possible. See Glee. The main characters were a gay kid, a disabled boy, a Jewish girl, an Asian girl, a black girl... It's like they had to include every single minority, it feels forced.

Then you have Community. Its characters are diverse, you have 2 black characters, an Arab man and a Jewish girl. But it feels natural. They aren't there just because they are minorities.

Anyways, you shouldn't assume that everyone out there is a racist piece of shit. Do you realize how fucked up this is?

They literally never draw attention to their skin color or body type. I make fun of tumblr as much as anyone but it seems like you have problems that go far deeper than tumblr

Only one person of any minority can exist in any given television cast. It's the television law.

Uh, it's called character design, man. Each character in the show is drawn to be as immediately recognizable as possible, from silhouette to color scheme. And they've done a very good job of it. Do you really just want homogenous design or something?

Holy crap, that is a messed-up thought process.

So what I'm getting is that people have decided to have such a hate-on for Tumblr that anything that involves having more than a single token Different Person (or worse, people who are Different in more than one way) is dismissed as being SJW-y or something?

I mean...is the show actually bad? And if it is bad, is it bad for those reasons in particular? Does having characters of different ethnic and/or body types work to the show's detriment?

Everything that isn't the media-norm feels "forced." Because we're pretty used to seeing shows with certain kinds of characters and only a certain kind of variety. I just don't get why it's a problem unless it impacts the writing in some way.

that is a bit odd, but they haven't taken away her eye, so... not really an example of what's going on in show.
