The double standard aspect makes me uncomfortable, honestly. But at the same time I'll admit that I do perpetuate it. I feel guilty, because why should I find bloodied/beaten/similarly disheveled men attractive or appealing and not women? I think it comes down to the fact that in a lot of media, a woman being beaten up is being "brought down a peg" or having her agency removed (there's no talk of revenge, just recovery or "moving on"), whereas a man being beaten up is almost always the beginning of a revenge/justice plot. Not saying that this is always the case, but a lot of the time it is.

Or maybe I'm just rationalizing my own kinks. :'D;;;;
