My first ever fandom predates the WWW, and I was 12/13. I was (and still am 30ish years later) a Duran Duran fan. My best friend and I wrote fan/slash fic, though we had no idea, living in rural Canada, that there was even a thing called fanfic or even fandom.

My first internet fandom was The Sentinel (Jim/Blair all the way, baby), back in 1996, when I was 25. I discovered fandom, fanfic and slashfic all at the same time and it was a revelation to me that I wasn't the only one that liked those things.
