to each their own, as they say. i really like the dub for attack on titan. i'm glad you at least like armin's VA though because i think he does a fantastic job and i was the most worried about his voice since he is my fave. the scream at the end of ep 5, i mean: damn. killed it.

i see a lot of folks complaining about modern dubs and can't help but think they weren't around for the really, REALLY awful ones of the late 90s/early 2000s, like sailor moon and cardcaptor sakura (or "cardcaptors," bfksajdf). never thought i'd become a crotchety old weeaboo but there you go.

This. I could still hear the "yodeling" Terri Hawkes' Usagi/Serena did in the dub...

Then again, there is 4Kids/Pokemon USA's Pokemon dub and every Yugioh dub 4Kids brought out to the American market. They're the worst.

I never thought I'll be old too, but hey, it happens, haha!

hahaha oh god, yugioh!!! i almost forgot about that one!!! wowww. yeah they really didn't try to get anyone remotely normal-sounding for that dub.

Oh god, Cardcaptors. I remember getting the Cardcaptor Sakura manga (and another manga that was basically the show put in comic form, minus the butchery/localization) after watching the anime on tv and being so fucking confused about everything because the dub had butchered the plot/character relationships so badly. I later learned the Americanized version of the show actually cut several scenes out and tried to make it more "boy friendly" :/ Dubs have come a long way since then.

ugh, word. cardcaptors was so bogus compared to the original. they cut out all of the parts that were even remotely gay also (like shaoran having a crush on yuki) ... but i wouldn't have gotten to read a kid-friendly manga with non-evil gay characters if i hadn't watched the crappy dub, so maybe it was for the best.
