At least with teenage boys, they never pretend that when they tear people down it's in the name of justice.

I was more talking about video game fandoms, to be honest (like Call of Duty). It's always seemed to me that their behavior is 100% ego-driven in those games and well aware of it.

They don't pretend it's for "justice," it's just posturing and hypermasculinity.

Reddit's a different beast entirely.
