I do not at all think I am the perfect parent or that my kids are the perfect kids. I have failed at parenting more often than I'd like to admit. But my kids aren't the mean kids. Ever. The baby's too little to discuss in this way, but my older daughter is kind and empathetic and loyal, and she just gets so floored when other people mistreat her because it would never occur to her to backstab a friend, for example.

*shakes head*

That old lady sounds like she is in a buttload of denial. There's advocating for your kid, and then there's living in a whole 'nother reality from the rest of the world.
